The Garden Gate..

I took this a couple of days ago on a day when the mist engulfed us for the whole day. I've tweaked it in PSE and I like the result, very other worldly, very ethereal!

See the little blackbird sitting on the gate, there's a story to her living in our garden! About two years ago a little blackbird flew into the window and gave itself a bit of concussion. John happened to be out in the garden at the time and he picked her up, put her in a shoe box on one of the dogs towels and left her on top of the meat safe on the verandah. He checked on her every now and then until it got dark, then left her for the night. The next morning she was still there when I got up but by the time John got up for breakfast, she'd gone!! For months we would see her flitting around, grubbing up the mulch, then the following spring we found her in a nest up in the vine covering the gate. She's been there every year since, she teaches her babes to fly around the garden, I can see her now scratching up the mulch around the newly emerged Jonquils. She has no fear of us or the dogs, she'll hop up on the fence or a branch when Miss Martha goes charging outside pretending to be a big guard dog, waits till she's finished then hops down again! We can walk along the path not 50cm away from her and she's content to stay.
I like that. I like being friends with a little Blackbird....................

Ooooh...I like this picture, too, Lizzie and love becoming friends with the birds. I had a black bird do the same thing just this week. I was at the computer, my little guy playing just outside and I heard a thunk on the window behind me. I thought it was my little man until I looked out to find a little black bird laying under the window, on the ground...stunned. But, as I walked closer..she flew away.
