I know that sea, surf and sun is not what most people think of when they think of Christmas, but for us antipodean's that's what it's all about, it's our summer, school holidays until February, daylight saving, long warm summer days....so my alphabet is slightly different here in the southern hemisphere to my northern friends....

Lights at night....

I was reading this post and it led me to this post and then I found this amazing post which then led me to try this...

..and no, I haven't got a gazillion lights on, just two small strands of 100 each. For those of you that are interested the camera settings were...

ISO 1600, my Nikon doesn't go higher than that.
S 1.30
f4.5

of course I used the tripod but not a remote, I've lost it  :(

The last ones...

It's nearly fully open now, so this will be the last lot I suppose.... I've really enjoyed following the process of this Arum Lily opening it's petal.... ...it's bloomed and blossomed so to speak, before my eyes... ...nature astounds me with it's beauty and simplicity.. ...it's ability to retain itself when it's taken out of it's natural element...

..as in stuck in a bit of water on my desk, in a dark little corner... ...it's wonders still beautifully evident.....

Thanks for bearing with me :o)

Still obsessed...

It's six days since I started photographing this flower...

..admittedly it's not been warm here...

..but it's still been a slow dance...

..definitely a waltz as opposed to a quick step...

..and I'm convinced that anyone checking this out is totally over it now!!

Probably one more day then I'll be over it too... :o)

More Arum beauty...

..how beautiful is this flower....

...it's the Audrey Hepburn of the flower world don't you think?

..you know.....

.....classic lines, elegance and simplicity...

Arum curves...

I seem to have become a little obsessed with this Arum Lily bud over the last couple of days..

It's been sitting on my desk next to the desktop computer here and slowly, slowly starting to unfurl itself....

..and it's almost hourglass female curves have been emerging....

...of course it's organic, it's a flower, but the shape as it opens in front of me is totally
fascinating....

...every morning it's uncurled just a little more....

...and the colour is gradually lightening from the deep green of the tightly curled bud to todays light lime with the edges just starting to whiten...

....expect more... :o)

Back to Basics...

I've been a bit lazy just lately with my photographs, just had the Nikon on Program setting and let it do the work on it's own..... ..time to take back control.

I was looking for some DoF with this set of shots... ...this is a little Plum tree that's in the big driveway... ..we never get any fruit off it at all... ..what little is on it the Parrots get every year, but we're okay with that.....Parrots have to eat too..!! The first of the new season daisies, fresh, white and heralding sunnier days......we hope !!
